1 Tim 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
First we have to understand where our provisions come from. Who is ultimately responsible for supplying our every need? Paul spoke to Timothy some very powerful words. Where do our provisions come from?
Government or God?
As I was watching a little bit of the Democratic Presidential Debate I heard Mr. Bernie Sanders say that we “deserve a living wage.” I kept hearing about how the government was going to give us everything that we’ve ever wanted or dreamed of. They’re just going to give it to us? At what cost I ask?
I pondered on that for a minute. There is freedom in going out and providing for your family. “Earning” a living wage. We are to go out and work for what we have. We are to go out and work for what we need. I know that is a crazy concept with these people. I have never been wealthy by any means by worldly standards but I am rich beyond measure because I know that the Lord supplies my every need. I may not have all that I want but I have what I need.
I believe that these people that I listened to speak want you to turn to the government for every need that you have. They want you to trust and depend on them for all of your needs.
Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
The Bible clearly tells us that we cannot serve two masters. We cannot serve God and government. If we know our Constitution we know that our government serves us, the people.
A government for the people, of the people, and by the people.
How does government get people to forget the what the Constitution says? Erase any trace of Scriptures from all public office. Get rid of the Word of God. They have successfully done that over the course of nearly 70 years.
The devil is sly. The devil is patient. The devil is persuasive and convincing. He also feeds off of emotion. He is also the author of confusion. He is a liar, a murderer and a thief.
First he says I’m going to take the Bible out of schools as a required textbook….
Then he says I’m going to replace the scriptures with “morally sound” textbooks….
Then he says I’m going to start injecting evolution into those same textbooks….
Then he says I’m going to ban the creation account from being taught in public schools….
Then he says I’m going to use one atheist woman to take prayer out of the schools…..
Then he says I’m going to remove any evidence of the 10 Commandments from public offices and schools…..
Then over the course of time we forget and begin to reject God’s Word as our ultimate authority and begin to turn to government out of fear for lack of knowledge. Lack of knowledge of where our provisions come from? Lack of knowledge of who God even is?
That’s what has happened in our nation over the course of the last century … We have forgotten who we are and what we were founded upon. We must return to our roots…return to the Constitution….return to the Word of God.
Matthew said “he will hold to the one and despise the other.” Well so many today are praising the government for ungodly and unconstitutional proposals while condemning and despising the Bible and it’s teachings along with the Bill of Rights which are rooted in the idea that our “unalienable rights” come from God not the government.
Who do you serve…in any country that you live in today? God or Government?
The biggest threat to any government is a free thinking people who believe that their rights come from an almighty God. The government over time has convinced people that their rights come from an almighty government because the people have stopped turning to the scriptures. That’s why people are so easily dominated by fear today.
There is no freedom in the government. They will ultimately tell you how much you can make, where you can live, the size of the house you can live in, what to eat, what to drive, what you can and can’t protect your family with. There is no freedom in that way of life.
There is freedom in living for Christ. In going out and providing for your family. Helping your neighbor. Loving your friends and your enemies. Sometimes it’s not easy but there is freedom in that way of life.
Peter said these words…
Acts 5:29 We ought to obey God rather than men…
